Kids Are Talking™ (KAT) is a unique, live-streaming talk show that uses a moderated, roundtable discussion format. Middle, high school and college students, as well as other young adults, have an opportunity to express themselves and their opinions in a safe space. Our panelists come from all over the country to talk about edgy, controversial and timely topics that affect their mental health.
The kids on the show openly and honestly discuss difficult and controversial issues so their voices can be heard. Some panelists have used the show as a platform to reveal their inner ‘secrets’ while live streaming; surprising parents, teachers and friends. Our authentic, peer-to-peer conversations provide insights into the minds and hearts of our youth.
Before there was a live-streamed show, Kids Are Talking was a nationally recognized kid-centered radio and TV talk show. Family therapist, Dr. Donald Cohen, broke boundaries and led a discussion with students in the northeast about relevant, timely, and controversial topics.
The roundtable discussion format gave kids an opportunity to express themselves and articulate their opinions in a safe space.
The first Kids Are Talking broadcast was done in 1990 at Fairfield University. The show went on to become a national radio call-in show on WICC and was simulcast on local Cable TV in Norwalk, CT. In the late 1990's, it found a home at a high school radio station in Westport, CT.
Kids Are Talking and its host, Dr. Don Cohen, were featured on The CBS Morning show with Harry Smith, ABC, The New York Times, and News 12.
